Job Summary
Our client, a growing non-profit association in the DC metro area is seeking a Director of Finance & Accounting. The role reports directly to the CEO. This role oversees the day-to-day accounting operations including the month end and year end closes. Also, the Director will also oversee the annual budget process with monthly financial reporting and analysis. The Director role is a “hands on” role and will also supervise the finance and accounting team. Providing strategic, analytical, and accurate information in a professional manner is critical in this role.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to oversight of the following areas:
- Oversee all accounting and finance operations
- Ownership of annual budget process
- Maintain internal controls and documentation to ensure accuracy of financial information
- Direct and supervising accounting staff
- Manage all audits and taxes, working as a liaison to the audit firm
- Oversee payroll processing
- Generating timely and accurate financial statements
- Reviewing and ensuring all grants and contracts are accurate and timely
Role Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
- CPA and/or MBA required
- 7-10 years of non-profit experience
- Federal grants or contracts experience is preferred
- Great Plains software experience in required
- Familiar with iMIS or similar membership database and its integration with the financial system
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Strong supervisory experience
